You will operate as a trusted advisor for our key technologies, platforms and capability domains, creating clear and concise communications, code samples, blog posts and other material to share knowledge both inside and outside the organization. You will specialize in a particular subject area, but your input and impact will be sought and expected throughout the organization.In this role, you'll provide technical leadership to teams of mobile engineers supporting the core Android platform upon which Capital One's award-winning mobile app is built. The frameworks you contribute to will be used by hundreds of engineers across the company and shipped to millions of customers. You'll bring extensive experience in mobile development and Android ecosystem, including but not limited to Kotlin and the Android SDK; familiarity with reactive and asynchronous programming patterns; proficiency with build tooling (Gradle) and testing (jUnit, Espresso); a strong understanding of UIs development (XML, Jetpack Compose); and a passion for platform engineering.If you are ready to provide thought leadership and build engineering excellence across Capital One's engineering teams, come join us in our mission to change banking for good.Job Responsibilities

• Decompose complex problems into practical and operational solutions
• Ensure the quality of technical design and implementation
• Serve as an authoritative expert on non-functional system characteristics, such as performance, scalability and operability
• Continue learning and injecting advanced technical knowledge into our community
• Handle several projects simultaneously, balancing your time to maximize impact
• Act as a role model and mentor within the tech community, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community
• Provide thought leadership to all initiatives in the Android engineering space, ensuring that our approaches reflect industry best practices and incorporates the latest recommendations from Google and other beacons
• Proactively identify technical challenges and work collaboratively with the teams across the organization to devise innovative solutions, promoting a culture of problem-solving and creativity
• Serve as a vocal advocate for the mobile platform within both internal and external developer communities, fostering knowledge sharing and innovation
• Collaborate closely with leaders and teams across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.), cultivating a culture of cross-functional collaboration and learningBasic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 7 years of experience in mobile development for Android
  • At least 3 years of experience with following technologies: Kotlin, Coroutines, Channels, Flow, Android Studio, and the Android SDK - -Preferred Qualifications -
    • Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
    • 10+ years of experience in Android development
    • 8+ years of experience in - reactive programming paradigms
    • 8+ years - in mobile cybersecurity concepts and techniques (vulnerability detection and remediation, certificate management)
    • 8+ years experience building enterprise-grade mobile applications and frameworks
    • 5+ years experience working with large, federated monorepo codebases
    • 2+ years experience with the Apple / iOS ecosystem and related technologies
    • 2+ years experience with web services and cloud architecture
    • 10+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production supportCapital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $274,800 - $313,600 for Distinguished EngineerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
