Maintenance-NwkOverview: The 1 employs a workforce of approximately
2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements,
and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and
operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive
service and business operations across the State of New Jersey.
These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety
and emergency operations, environmental health and safety,
transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.Posting
Summary: Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an
Associate Director Supervisor for Division of Institutional
Planning & Operations (IP&O). Reporting to the Senior Director
of Operations and Services, this position provides managerial
leadership for the Mechanical Maintenance and Grounds Departmental
Operations for the Rutgers Newark Campus. Under the general
direction of the Senior Director, this position is charged with and
is responsible for developing standards and operating procedures
for said operational units, develops/manages specific respective
budget requests, coordinates and supervises the activities of the
Operations Area Managers and various outside vendors.Among the key
duties of this position are the following:
- Serves as a liaison to the University Facilities Utilities
Division providing assistance and direction as needed and provides
support as required for all buildings, residences and condominium
buildings owned or operated by the university.Minimum Education and
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree, required in business, management,
engineering or architecture.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of increasingly responsible
experience in facilities management is required, five (5) years of
which must be in a leadership/management position, in a higher
education or institutional setting.Certifications/Licenses:
- Valid driver's licenseRequired Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities:
- Must have excellent management, communication, interpersonal
and organizational skills. Computer proficiency (Windows) and
knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems are
necessary.
- Project management experience to include knowledge of blueprint
reading, contracts, RFPs and RFQs, construction and building codes
required.
- Available at any given time for the following, but not limited
to unexpected emergencies, outages, disruptions, etc. Flexible with
schedule as the operations requires.
- Obtain and maintain valid all required certifications, license,
continuing education classes, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.Preferred
Qualifications:
- Completion of the APPA Institute for Facilities Management or
certification in a recognized Facilities Management Certification
Program is desirable.Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
frequently required to sit, talk, or hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands
to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50
pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
