It monitors the preparation and movement of raw materials and product quality. Coordinates personnel in charge.Summary/Objective:The Shift Supervisor achieves manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.Hours for this role are approximately 2:00pm-10:30pm, Monday-Friday, to support the second shift team. Salary for this role is $75-80k with the Company's full benefits package available.Essential Functions:Productivity

  • Possess strong productivity mindset and supervise to maximize production efficiency/output.
  • Interact with Shift Supervisor being relieved and relief Shift Supervisor to conduct thorough shift changes that ensure production is uninterrupted.
  • Utilize daily production schedule and supplement with productive back-fill work as necessary.
  • Ensure employees honor start times, break times, and shower times.
  • Collect and report on daily production metrics.
  • Coordinate with the Plant Manager and fellow Shift Supervisors to ensure he/she and all team members are trained to process concepts and Manufacturing Work Instructions.
  • Train employees to improve crew capabilities on assigned shift.
  • Support the identification and implementation of production efficiency gains.
  • Willingness to perform certain functions normally assigned to bargaining unit employees in accordance with the CBA.Safety
    • Must have a strong safety mindset, set safety expectations, supervise to safety expectations, and lead a behavior-based safety culture.
    • Coordinate with the Safety Coordinator to ensure he/she and all team members are trained to internal safety procedures and OSHA regulatory requirements and conduct periodic observations or audits as directed to identify safety issues.
    • Become intimately familiar with, ensure compliance with, and enforce "Rules of Conduct" and OSHA requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with and enforce the use of PPE (safety glasses, respirators, etc.) and safety equipment.
    • Implement progressive discipline pursuant to enforcement.
    • Encourage participation in the Site "Near Hit" program.
    • Advise the Safety Coordinator of problem areas and participate in Site Safety Committee.
    • Document and report incidents with subsequent investigation, root cause development, and corrective action development as directed.
    • Act as Incident Coordinator during a Site incident (injury, illness, release, etc...) and implement the Site Emergency Plan.
    • Must strive to achieve "0" OSHA recordable injuries.Quality
      • Must have a strong quality mindset and supervise within an ISO 9001 management system.
      • Coordinate with the QC Lab Manager to ensure he/she and all crew members are trained to internal quality procedures and ISO requirements.
      • Supervise to ensure adherence to Manufacturing Work Instructions and document control requirements.
      • Interact cooperatively with Quality Control Dept. personnel to monitor and adjust processes.
      • Willingness to learn and apply certain analyses to complete in-process testing requirements and keep production moving forward.
      • Audit production documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
      • Perform final confirmation and documentation of production quantities as each batch finishes.
      • Contribute to the refinement and update of Manufacturing Work Instructions.Reliability
        • Capability of minor maintenance activities (flange tightening, belt replacement, etc...).
        • Knowledge to call in and guide mechanical/electrical Contractors to repair break downs to minimize down time.
        • Preparation of Purchase Orders for maintenance vendors.
        • Designation of proper cost allocation codes on Purchase Orders.
        • Review contract maintenance work completion and approve same.
        • Tracking of contract maintenance cost and recommend preventative maintenance.
        • Must troubleshoot and prepare thorough descriptions of equipment break downs for relief Shift Supervisor and Plant Engineer to address on subsequent shifts.Housekeeping
          • Must have a strong housekeeping mindset and supervise to ensure employees keep work areas organized and clean.
          • Audit Site conditions routinely to ensure organization and cleanliness.
          • Implement daily shift housekeeping period (15 min. after relief).Miscellaneous
            • Dependent on product demand, first / third shift hours and / or weekends and holidays maybe required.
            • Willingness to coordinate personal and vacation time to ensure Shift Supervisor coverage.
            • Coordinate with the Plant Manager and fellow Shift Supervisors to ensure he/she is trained to process concepts and Manufacturing Work Instructions specific to the wastewater system.
            • Ensure that all batch discharges meet PVSC permit limitations.
            • Coordinate with the Warehouse Coordinator and fellow Shift Supervisors to ensure he/she is trained to support order shipments by late arriving carriers.
            • Completion of yearly evaluations of hourly employees.
            • Preparation of supply Purchase Orders and order supplies for production.Education and Experience:
              • High school diploma or GED.
              • Possess a minimum of two years supervisory experience.
              • Ability to read and understand specifications.
