Job Description:
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cook
to join our team at Loews Philadelphia Hotel: Bank & Bourbon. As a
key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for
preparing and cooking menu items to the highest standards of
quality and presentation.Key Responsibilities
- Set up and organize the work area with all necessary supplies
and equipment.
- Receive, inspect, and rotate all food products to ensure fresh
and high-quality ingredients are used.
- Prepare and store raw food products properly.
- Follow standardized recipes in the preparation and cooking of
menu items.
- Adhere to established portion control guidelines and minimize
waste.
- Plate foods according to established plating and presentation
guidelines.
- Monitor finished products and ensure they are served promptly,
notifying the supervisor of any delays in service.
- Ensure that a quality product is prepared and served in a
timely manner.
- Follow all Governmental Food Sanitation Standards at all
times.
- Monitor refrigeration and holding temperatures, clean and
sanitize work surfaces, and wash hands frequently.
- Use knives, slicers, mixers, choppers, grinders, and all other
equipment in a safe manner according to the manufacturer's
recommendations.
- Notify the supervisor of any equipment malfunction or safety
hazard immediately.
- Provide the steward with timely notification of the need for
clean dishes, pots, pans, etc.
- Return utensils to the pot wash area and inform the steward of
any hot items.
- Clean and break down the work area, returning all unused
ingredients to proper storage at the end of the shift.
- Ensure that all closing side work is complete, cooking
equipment is turned off, and the kitchen is secure at the end of
the shift.Requirements
- Promote and apply teamwork skills at all times.
- Notify the appropriate individual promptly and fully of
problems and/or areas of concern.
- Be polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management, and
fellow employees.
- Execute emergency procedures in accordance with hotel
standards.
- Comply with required safety regulations and procedures.
- Attend appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions.
- Maintain the cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment
and work area.
- Comply with hotel standards, policies, and rules.
- Recycle whenever possible.
- Remain current with hotel information and changes.
- Comply with hotel uniform and grooming standards.Qualifications
- High School Diploma or its equivalent.
- One year of cooking experience in an upscale, high-volume hotel
or freestanding restaurant or post-secondary culinary
training/certification as a "Cook" from a recognized culinary
training school.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Food Service Sanitation
Standards.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of standard kitchen
equipment and its use.
- Ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and carry up to 35
pounds.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and
