Santi, a fine dining Italian restaurant located in the heart of
Manhattan, is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to
join their team. The restaurant, owned by the renowned chef and
restaurateur Michael White, offers a seasonal Italian menu that
explores the rich culinary heritage of Italy and the South of
France.
Job Summary
The Assistant General Manager is a key leadership position that
oversees the front-of-house operations, ensuring exceptional
service, customer satisfaction, and revenue growth. The ideal
candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fine
dining restaurant management, with a proven track record of driving
sales, managing costs, and developing high-performing teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute business plans to drive sales, manage
costs, and grow the business, working closely with the General
Manager and leadership team
- Oversee front-of-house staff, including scheduling, employee
relations, and disciplinary action, ensuring seamless execution of
service standards
- Manage daily reporting, including labor, sales, and expenses,
using technology systems such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite,
and POS platforms
- Assist with payroll administration, providing timely updates on
labor reports, expenses, and new hire onboarding
- Ensure the restaurant maintains a clean, healthy, and safe
working environment, adhering to company safety and sanitation
policies and procedures
- Lead pre-shift meetings, updating staff on operational and
service changes, and promoting an open-door environment
- Enhance and strengthen guest relationships, recognizing regular
guests and VIPs, and resolving complaints in a polite and friendly
manner
- Participate in training on standardized policies, such as HR,
fire, hygiene, health, and safety
- Maintain a strong understanding of company background, core
values, and philosophy
Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in fine dining restaurant
management, preferably as an Assistant General Manager or in a
similar role
- Restaurant Management Certification or college degree in a
related field, preferred
- Experience with operations management, team management, and
team development
- Proficient in a variety of technology systems, especially
Microsoft Office, Google Suite, POS platforms, and reservation
management platforms
- Able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and variable
schedules, as needed by the business
- NYC Food Protection Certificate
- Willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working
environment
- Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to
detail
