Ginjan Cafe is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to lead our kitchen operations in Harlem. As a critical member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the culinary vision of our Head Chef and contributing to the development of new menu items inspired by African cuisine.Key Responsibilities

• Lead daily kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of quality and consistency.
• Collaborate in the development of new menu items, incorporating creativity and seasonality.
• Manage inventory, ordering, and cost control to maintain fresh ingredients and minimize waste.
• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards, preserving a clean and efficient kitchen environment.
• Train, mentor, and inspire kitchen staff, fostering a supportive team culture.
• Work closely with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service and handle special requests or dietary needs.Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a sous-chef or senior line cook in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Deep appreciation for African cuisine and a willingness to expand culinary knowledge.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with a knack for motivating team members.
  • Problem-solving mindset and passion for crafting memorable food experiences.
  • Organizational skills with a focus on quality, safety, and efficiency.
