Job Description:

Job Summary: Create and decorate cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items using artistic talents and following standard procedures.

• 
  
• Assemble, fill, and decorate cakes, tarts, and select pastry items.
  
• Build, ice, and decorate cakes and other bakery items according to standard procedures.
  
• Prioritize production lists and recommend adjustments as needed.
  
• Merchandise and showcase products in the sales display case to satisfy and delight customers.
  
• Provide guidance and support for Bakery Decorator Apprentices and other Team Members.
  
• Create special order cake designs based on customer preferences.
  
• Provide excellent customer service, addressing customers' needs in a timely and effective manner.
  
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment.
  
• Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned.
  
  Skill Requirements:
  
  • 
    
  • Efficient cake decorating skills, including intermediate piping techniques and creating decorative flowers and borders.
    
  • Understanding of color theory and ability to blend buttercream colors and coordinate complementing palettes.
    
  • Ability to apply proper technique when using various icings and follow recipes and directions.
    
  • Advanced knife handling, tool, and equipment safety, basic math skills for recipe conversions, and strong communication skills.
    
  • Ability to meet customer service expectations and work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
    
    Experience:
    
    • 
      
    • Minimum 6-12 months retail or restaurant experience.
      
    • Complete the Bakery Decorator Apprentice training program, or equivalent experience.
      
      Physical Requirements:
      
      • 
        
      • Lift 50 pounds.
        
      • Stand/walk 6-8 hours in an 8-hour workday.
        
      • Use hands for grasping, manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
        
      • Work in wet and dry conditions, with exposure to temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
        
      • Use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, and heavy machinery.
