Job Description:
The EHS Safety Technician will be responsible for conducting
inspections, monitoring workplace environments, and implementing
safety procedures to ensure compliance with environmental, health,
and safety regulations, identifying potential hazards, and
promoting a safe working environment by performing tasks such as,
risk assessments, incident and near miss investigations, employee
training, and reporting non-compliance issues to management. EHS
Safety Technician will work closely with other departments to
maintain a safe workplace.
We currently have one EHS Safety Technician position available on
1st shift (6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) and one on 2nd shift (2:00 p.m.
to 10:00 p.m.)
Key Responsibilities:
* Safety Inspections and Audits:
Conduct routine safety inspections of facilities, equipment, and
work areas to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with
safety standards.
* Hazard Assessments:
Perform job hazard analysis (JHA) to identify potential risks
associated with specific tasks and develop preventative
measures.
* Incident Investigations:
Investigate workplace accidents and near misses to determine root
causes and implement corrective actions.
* Employee Training:
Deliver safety training programs to employees on topics such as
personal protective equipment (PPE) use, chemical safety, emergency
procedures, and safe work practices.
* Environmental Monitoring:
Monitor environmental factors like air quality, noise levels, and
waste disposal to ensure compliance with environmental
regulations.
* Data Collection and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents,
training completion, and environmental monitoring data.
* Compliance Management:
Stay updated on relevant safety and environmental regulations and
ensure the company adheres to all applicable laws.
* Policy Development:
Assist in developing and updating safety policies and procedures to
address identified hazards.
* Emergency Response:
Participate in emergency response drills and provide support during
actual emergencies.
* Communication and Collaboration:
Collaborate with other departments to promote safety awareness and
address safety concerns.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Technical Knowledge:
Understanding of occupational health and safety principles,
environmental regulations, industrial hygiene practices, and hazard
identification methods.
* Analytical Skills:
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed
recommendations to improve safety performance.
* Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively
train employees and communicate safety concerns.
* Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to identify safety issues, analyze root causes, and develop
effective solutions.
* Observation Skills:
Keen attention to detail to identify potential hazards during
inspections.
* Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to build relationships with employees at all levels and
work effectively in a team environment.
Education and Certification:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* Bachelor's degree in safety science, environmental science, or a
related field preferred
* Relevant safety certifications such as Certified Safety
Professional (CSP) or Occupational Safety and Health Administration
(OSHA) certifications
